CHICAGO
THE CRESCITA
05 / 11 / 2020
The Crescita, an intergenerational living facility located in the South Loop, was a factor in itself. The building, located at 1014 S Michigan received little sunlight in the middle of the building. My partner and I sketched, discussed, and conceptualized possibilities on how to fill the space with the natural sun.

We came up with an atrium and light well combo, seen in sections above. The atrium is significant because it is interactive and special to each floor. After this architectural move, we surveyed the area to analyze who would be living in this complex. Ultimately, we came up with many different individuals. So, planning begun.

Our public spaces were created to be fun and youthful for the younger generation but also for the older generation to enjoy their youth. Our units were thought through so that aging in place could occur, micro-housing could be present and intergenerational living for families could be available.

Below is the final presentation. Originally, it was suppose to be digital. However, once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we were forced to transition to remote learning and recording our voices.
