The
Guiding Light

The story that I chose to focus my design around a Sunday Morning interview called "Daycare Friends". In this story, an older man lives across the street from an at home day care. Every day he plays with the children for an hour a day, however, there is a catch. Each day, the day care kids have to reintroduce themselves. The man across the street has severe dementia. In the interview, his daughter explains that the emotions the kids leave on the old man every day, makes him want to come back, even if he doesn't remember the day before. Steve Hartman does an excellent job at reporting on how the children bring sunlight and leave an emotional imprint on the elderly living in the shadows.

Inspired by the idea of guiding light, I sketched some axonometric views of a space that circulated around a crystal being hit with he light high up in the air. Light bounces and creates perfect pathways, shown in the pathways I made for humans to observe the crystal from multiple perspectives.

To encourage expanding how to deliver visuals, we were tested to see how collaging could show your ideas. The three "moments" I collaged to jail show different perspectives of the crystal for one to observe.
